Connecting to a cluster now shows a live progress dialog — Connecting, Authenticating, Fetching topics — with a Cancel button, and hovering a connection in the quick-links bar reveals a details card with its status, bootstrap servers, and quick actions. Behind the scenes, AWS MSK IAM connections are fixed against current AWS SDKs and no longer silently abort or hang on large, slow clusters.

What changed

  • New: Opening a connection shows a centred Connecting dialog that reports each real stage — Connecting, Authenticating, Fetching topics — as reported by the backend, so slow clusters no longer look frozen.
  • New: The Connecting dialog has a Cancel button (Escape or clicking outside also cancels). Cancelling closes the dialog immediately and cleans up the half-opened backend session.
  • New: If an open is still running after about ten seconds the dialog adds a "Taking longer than usual — still trying…" note; it abandons the attempt at 30 seconds instead of waiting forever.
  • New: Hovering a connection chip in the quick-links bar shows a connection card with its status (Connected / Connecting / Disconnected) and bootstrap servers — clicking the card selects that connection just like clicking the chip, and it offers Connect, Close Connection, or Cancel depending on state.
  • The connection card also appears inside grouped connection dropdowns and the overflow menu, popping out to the side like a submenu.
  • Close Connection from the card now also closes any detached child window showing that connection.
  • Fix: "AWS MSK IAM" connections no longer crash with AuthSchemePreferenceResolver — every AWS SDK module now resolves to a single aligned version via a shared BOM.
  • Fix: MSK IAM authentication no longer hangs for a minute when an AWS profile's SSO token is expired: credential resolution fails fast instead of falling through to container metadata endpoints.
  • Fix: Connection open, test, and topic-list requests no longer abort after four seconds on clusters with hundreds of topics — they now allow 30–120 seconds depending on the call.
  • Fix: The View chosen in the message details panel while browsing a Live View is now remembered per connection, View, and topic — clicking between rows, switching views, or restarting the app keeps your selection instead of resetting to the View's configured or default view.
