What the Linux installer helper does
The AppImage can be run directly as a portable app. The optional install-linux.sh helper instead sets it up as a per-user Linux desktop application; the icon is one part of that setup.
- Installs
libfuse2orlibfuse2t64throughaptif the AppImage runtime is missing. This step may ask for your sudo password. - Makes the AppImage executable and copies it to
~/.local/bin/kafka-streamyard. - Extracts the bundled icon and adds Kafka Streamyard to your application menu.
- Creates a quiet-launch command, starts the app, and writes launch output to
~/.local/share/kafka-streamyard/app.log.
The helper has currently only been tested on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Grant it execute permission, then choose one of these options:
- Run
./install-linux.shwith no argument to use the newestkafka-streamyard*.AppImagein~/Downloads. - Or pass a direct download URL or local AppImage path as the first argument.
chmod +x install-linux.sh ./install-linux.sh
./install-linux.sh ~/Downloads/kafka-streamyard-0.4.11.AppImage
